Louis McClellan Potter

Louis McClellan Potter [1873 – 1912] was an American artist working at the turn of the 20th century. Though he is primarily known for his sculpture, Potter explored other media as well, including printmaking and sketching with watercolors. The subject of much of his work reflects his fascination with other cultures and his interest in exploring multifarious forms of spirituality and the imagination. His treatment of these subjects suggests a respectful admiration lacking in the works of his contemporaries and thus speaks to the innovation of his work.
